The Division started manufacturing color coated sheets in 1989, long before the concept was even heard of in the entire SAARC region. The plant, using the most sophisticated Japanese ,machines and technology , was set up considering the latest developments in the corrosion protection technology, The term “color coating” is also referred to as duplex coating, first introduced by J.F.H. Van Eijnsborgen in the early fifties and envisages protection of steel sheet with a zing layer followed by a non-metallic coating. The outer coating is to provide color (e.g. for appearance or easy visibility) or camouflage and more importantly, additional corrosion protection. Pre-painted sheets manufactured by Hulas confirms to JIS-G-3312, IS 14246-1995.
